  • Tracks: Hoof prints (deer), paw prints (raccoon, bobcat), claw marks (coyote, alligator drags).
  • Scat: Tubular with fur/bones (carnivores), fibrous/seed-filled (herbivores & raccoons).
  • Signs: Deer browse twigs, raccoons overturn rocks, armadillos dig half-moons, gopher tortoises leave sandy burrows.
  • Visuals: Watch for bird patterns, snake markings, and rooted soil from hogs.
  • Timing: Nocturnal (raccoon, bobcat), crepuscular (deer, fox), diurnal (birds, tortoise).

Tip: Photograph tracks with a ruler for better ID later.
