In St. Petersburg, passionate teens have launched Teens Who Care St. Petersburg, aiming to create positive change through collective giving.

Modeled after 100 Women Who Care, the group gathers twice yearly at the St. Petersburg Woman’s Club.

At each meeting, three nonprofits pitch their work, and teens vote for the group to receive the coveted Impact Award grant.

Every teen donates $25, making their impact significant when pooled together.

The inaugural event in January drew around 130 students from Pinellas County schools.

That evening, Charlie’s Champs, which supports children with disabilities, received the first grant.

Led by President Simi Damani and Vice President Kate Nordby, the organization fosters youth engagement in philanthropy while exposing members to local challenges.

Teens Who Care inspires involvement by inviting peers to volunteer and hopes to see similar programs emerge elsewhere.

Now, 18-year-old filmmaker Charlie King, himself a dedicated boxer, brings its remarkable history to light through his documentary, “Successors of St. Pete: The St. Pete Boxing Club Story.”

The film premieres Tuesday at The Beach Theatre, featuring interviews with legendary alumni and capturing the gym’s gritty atmosphere, lined with vintage clippings and championship memories.

Will and Joe Llewellyn are bringing a dream to life with the debut of their company, Moondeck, and its first product: the Lunar Tide 1 shoe.

Pre-orders began October 14 on a crowdfunding site, with the official launch set for March 2026.

Shoppers in St. Petersburg will find the shoes in local stores that same month.

The brothers’ journey started aboard their sailboat, Endoxi, docked at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.

As Minnesota natives with ties to St. Pete, the Llewellyns taught themselves to sail and explored the city—often swapping shoes for different activities.

Frustrated by the lack of versatile options, they created a slip-on shoe designed for the St. Pete lifestyle.

After years of development and a shift in manufacturing from Portugal to Vietnam, community support is strong: 500 pairs are already pre-ordered, and several stores are on board.

Their first batch will feature 2,000 pairs, fueling big ambitions for Moondeck’s future.
