St. Pete Chamber’s 127th Annual Event Highlights Momentum |
City Leaders and Business Community Gather to Celebrate Progress and Future Initiatives |
A sold-out crowd of approximately 400 attendees gathered at the Vinoy Resort & Golf Club for the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s 127th Annual Meeting.
The event provided a platform for stakeholders to reflect on the city's economic growth and discuss strategies to sustain this momentum.
Brian Glazer, owner of the Vinoy and co-chairman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, emphasized that St. Petersburg continues to attract entrepreneurs, families, creators, and builders due to its thoughtful growth.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining and building upon this success.
“We believe the future of St. Pete is incredibly bright, not because of any single project, but because of the collective vision, leadership, and pride that define the city,” Glazer stated.
“The Vinoy is just one piece of a bigger story – a story of growth, culture, business, and community coming together in a powerful way.”
Mayor Ken Welch echoed this sentiment, noting the palpable energy and momentum within the room.
He commended Chris Steinocher, CEO of the Chamber, for his unwavering passion for St. Petersburg’s community, despite recent challenges.
Welch highlighted the city's rich history of collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Robin Roark, senior partner at McKinsey & Company, provided a data-driven analysis of St. Petersburg's growth.
He emphasized the need to transform current momentum into a sustainable movement.
Roark cited the city's economic and population growth, density, and a rapidly maturing academic system as strengths.
However, he pointed out challenges such as income disparities and housing affordability.
To address these, Roark suggested fostering a homegrown talent pipeline aligned with target industries, promoting disruptive collaboration among organizations, and leveraging artificial intelligence to drive innovation.
He concluded by emphasizing the role of local leaders in defining the city's future growth and economy.
In other Chamber news, Patrick Causey, an attorney with Trenam Law, was named the 2025 Member of the Year for his leadership and commitment to the community.
Matt Lettelleir, local government and public policy manager, will oversee the annual Thinking Outside the ‘Burg benchmarking trip to New Orleans.
Outgoing board chair Owen LaFave, Pinellas County market president for The Bank of Tampa, passed the gavel to Roy Binger, founder of Binger Financial Services.
These developments underscore St. Petersburg's dedication to fostering a resilient and vibrant business community.
With strategic initiatives and collaborative efforts, the city is well-positioned to transform its current momentum into a lasting movement. |
